Dancing Away Your
Cares and Your Calories With Workout Video

When you are interested in
finding a great workout video, dance is often one that is not
considered. This is unfortunate, given the fact that dancing is
one of the best ways to burn calories and have fun around! When
it comes to dance, you'll find that far too many people feel
that they can't dance or that they will look funny if they do
so. Well, maybe that is true, but have you looked at how
ridiculous people appear while they're doing aerobics? I was a
little reluctant to do it, but after my best friend offered to
let me do her DVD dance workout with her, I rapidly changed my
mind.
It was just another Saturday
afternoon at my friend Jenny's place and I was bemoaning the
fact that I didn't have any energy to give to a new exercise
routine. There was no time to get to the gym and I really
didn't want to put a treadmill or an exercise bike in my home.
Not only was I dealing with not enough time, I was also dealing
with not having any money, and Jenny could definitely
sympathize. That was when she suggested that I try doing one of
her DVD dance workouts with her.
"But I don't dance," I
protested and she grinned at me.
"You won't think that for very
long," she promised me, and she popped the DVD into the
player.
The one we started on that day
was for bellydancing, and
though I had watched some bellydancing on television before and
even seen it when I went to the Renaissance Faire a few years
ago, I never thought that it was something that I myself could
do. The instructor started out very simply and made a big deal
of getting the basic movements right. When I was concentrating
on what my hips were doing and what I could do with my arms,
the time flew by and before I knew it, I had worked up a bit of
a sweat.
Then the video kicked into
gear and we were following along with the instructor, and
though I didn't really dance before, I was definitely getting
into it! The music made everything a lot more lively and a lot
more fun and it wasn't long before Jenny and I were giggling as
much as we were doing snake arms.
The thing that I never
realized about dance before is that it is all about movement
and taking joy in movement. It's about learning to have fun in
your body, and that is something that a lot of us forget about
in our day to day lives. Forty five minutes later, we stopped
for a drink and Jenny turned to me.
"Still feel like you can't
dance?"
I thought about, but I was
already shaking my head. When you are looking for a good
workout video, dance is definitely not something that you
should overlook. Exercise doesn't need to be a chore or
drudgery; it can amazing joyful as well as being great for
you!
